Hello! Thanks for visiting my website. As you know by now, I’m Charlie and this is my new venture…Normans Barber shop. Something I have always dreamt of since working in the hair industry is running my own business and having my own shop. From a young age I found myself being a very creative person and I was always more interested in the more practical tasks. Art was always a strong point for me in school along with Design technology. University and further education was not for me, so after a push from my brother and mum I found myself in my first proper job at the age of 18 working as an apprentice in a barbershop in town. A year later after gaining some great experience under my belt I started to work for my brother at Swanky Malone. Along with the help of my brother Cameron and his right hand man Laurence I learnt the skills to be able to run a back to back column of clients within 3 years. I found myself being at Swanky Malone for over 6 years. A fantastic 6 years working with the best. I was able to grow and broaden my knowledge and become the stylist/barber I am today.

In return for my hard work I was rewarded, meeting some great people and learning from the best in the business. The skills and lessons I have learnt have helped shape the person that I am today.”

My Grandad was Norman who was my Dad’s Dad. He was a smart, old school type of fella who had raised an incredible family and was a great grandad to his many grandchildren. My Grandad and Gran moved down south a good few years ago. Given the distance, it was even more special for when when I got to see him, and in his final few months I enjoyed having the opportunity to cut his hair for him. He loved his hair and so it was great for me to be able to help him out with him trusting me to do a good job. My girlfriend took a picture on one of those occasions and I now have this framed in the shop.

I wanted to create a unique and stylish barbershop with a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Since I can remember, my grandad was always a stylish man. He made me feel comfortable when around him, always trying to educate me and keep me up to date with his daily tasks.

I hope that the name and logo reflect that feeling when inside the shop, and that it is a place where you can be yourself whilst getting a professional, well done service.

Having my own shop has always been a dream of mine. Norman, my grandad, along with all my family, friends and girlfriend, have been my inspiration and have gone on to push me on to create something unique.
